Youth Sailing

The benefits of learning to sail is as vast as the ocean. Sailing promotes sportsmanship, independence, physical fitness, and safety at sea. And of course appreciation of nature and our environment to boot! Sailing can offer tranquility, adventure, and excitement all in one day!

Our aim is to encourage the sport of sailing and racing. National Dinghy Championships are held annually-alternatively between St Kitts Yacht Club and Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Center (Nevis Yacht Club). Opportunities also exist for sailors to travel and race in regattas regionally including the Sol Optimist Championship in St Martin and the Caribbean Dinghy Championship in Antigua.

Classes are held year-round.

  • Green Fleet (Beginner Optimist) 1:00pm-4:00pm Saturdays

  • Orange & Blue Fleet Optimists 1:00pm-4:00pm Sundays

  • RS Feva & Laser Sailors 1:00pm-4:00pm Sundays

Children aged 6 years and up are encouraged to join. All levels are taught. Private lessons available upon request.

Sailing Camps are also hosted during the holiday-school breaks.

Thank you Friends of the Island Initiative!!

Friends of the Island Initiative generously donated lifejackets, first aid kit and vhf radios to the Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Center. We are so grateful to this organization’s support of the Center by providing us with these important safety equipment.

THE RULE SONG

The Rule Song-sung by our sailing students at the beginning of each class!

Composed by: Jazzique Chiverton.

This rule song reminds the children the safety measures put in place while on the water.

Congratulations to the 2020 Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Center’s Youth Sailors for a great year of training!

Congratulations to Skyla Connor and Abhijith Srinivasan for competing at the 16th Annual Sint Maarten Sol Optimist Championships. The young sailors represented St Kitts and Nevis in the orange class and placed 3rd and 6th place! We are very proud of the young sailors and are thankful to Coach Nicholas Dupre, St Kitts and Nevis Sailing Association and the St Kitts and Nevis National Olympic Committee on supporting these children to compete at this regional event. We hope to send more young sailors to the 2022 championships!
